Abbotts Ann Trail Race

Undulating trail routes await you with spectacular views of the Hampshire countryside, in the heart of the Test Valley

10km - 5km - canicross


Race number collection for all events will open at 9:00am & close promptly at 9:45am.

First race is scheduled to start at 10.00am. 

Any changes to race entries must be done before 9.30am

 

​The undulating landscape provides spectacular views across the Hampshire countryside.

​

There will be a water station on the 10k route at approx 5km. Our events are cupless, please bring your own cup for use at the water station & at race HQ

 

Conditions may well be wet and the ground is uneven so trail shoes are recommended.
 

There will be refreshments available at the finish line.

Entry:​

  • PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY - THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY

  • Entry in advance closes Saturday 28th June.

  • Participants must be 12 years and older for the 10k race.

  • Participants must be 7 years and older for the 5k race.  All 5k entrants under the age of 11 yrs,  MUST be accompanied by the responsible adult on the route at all times with their own entry to the race.

  • Children of any age may take part in the childens' event and may be accompanied by an adult if required.  However, we would ask that adults peel off before the finish and do not go through the finish funnel.

Dogs:

  • Running with a dog is permitted at this event, but dog owners must abide by the following conditions. By entering this race and signing the waiver you agree that you:

    • Have public liability insurance for the dog - our event insurance does not cover any incidents caused by your dog, and therefore the requisite public liability insurance is the responsibility of the registered runner/owner

    • Will carry bags to clean up after your dog on the route and carry until disposed of in a suitable bin

    • Will carry sufficient water for your dog during the event. 

    • Will use an appropriate harness for both dog and human and bungee lead for running with a dog. ​​

  • Runners with dogs will start in a separate wave.

  • We will use the guidance of the British Sleddog Sports Federation with regards dogs running in heat and therefore:

    • If the effective temperature (taking into account the actual temperature and humidity) for the race time, is at or over 18 degrees Celsius, ​then we will not allow dogs to run the event.

    • Runners booked into the event may run without their dog in such circumstances

    • We will not be able to offer refunds for entries should you chose not to run without a dog

    • The decision of the race director for the event is final

Timings:

  • Registration opens at 08.30 am and will close promptly at 09:45 am

  • Any changes to race distance must be made before 9.30am

  • Please note there is no bag drop so please return any belongings to your car.

  • The canicross event will start at 10:00 am, followed by the 10k, then the 5k runners.

  • Please would ‘runners’ make their way to the front of the group, ‘joggers’ stay in the middle of the pack, and ‘walkers’ start near the back.

Route:

  • The routes are undulating and hilly, with a mixture of trail, tarmac, dirt and single tracks. It is challenging but beautiful.

  • There are some sections of road on the 10km race. Please listen and obey marshals. We do not have the right to stop traffic.

  • There are multiple obstacles on the course - overhanging trees, rough terrain underfoot, mud, holes and ruts caused by farm equipment. Please wear appropriate footwear and be aware of the terrain, especially the overhanging branches.  Unfortunately we do not deem this course to be suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

  • The course will be marked with km markers, tape, signs, flags, and we will have marshals on the course to help guide you.

  • If there is a children's race, this will be a multi lap route around the field.

  • These are multi-terrain cross-country routes and as such, the terrain is uneven, muddy in places and in the event of bad weather, some areas may be slippery.  All entrants should wear appropriate footwear with laces securely tied and take care at all times, following warning signs and markers and following any instructions given by marshals.

    • We reserve the right to remove any participant who does not obey a marshals directive/s

  • The routes cross private property, please stick to the routes and do not drop litter, there will be bins available at the finish for you to dispose of any litter you carry off the routes.

Headphones: (the following applies to all forms of headphone including bone conduction. It also applies to both ears!)

  • Headphones are permitted on most sections of the route.

  • Headphones must be removed when: a) you run across or alongside any road, or b) you see a marshal.

Facilities:

  •  Toilets will be available at the race HQ

  •  First aid is available at the finish line and also out on the course.

  • We love the environments we run in, we are also passionate about reducing our single use plastic waste. All our events are now 'cupless' meaning we do not supply single use cups at water stations:

    • Please bring your own cup or water bottle to carry on the course.

    • Muddy Runner reusable cups may be available to purchase.

  • Water and refreshments will also be available at the finish line.

  • Post-race refreshments will be available for purchase at the race HQ

  • Parking can be found on the sports field, please follow the instructions of marshals at all times

  • Medals and prizes for finishers

  • Bulbery Sports Fields, Abbotts Ann, SP11 7BN.

  • Please drive slowly through the village as there will be a lot of traffic passing through.
